Biography

Born in the Kasbah of Tangier and trained while working as a radio engineer. Founder of Dar Gnawa in 1980 — Tangier's first officially recognised centre for Gnawa music — which he runs from his medina home. Long-time collaborator with jazz pianist Randy Weston and saxophonist Archie Shepp.
