Maâlem Hassan Boussou

Biography

One of the most active Casablanca-school maâlems on the festival circuit, son of M'allem Hmidah (Ahmed Boussou). Programmed at every Essaouira Gnaoua and World Music Festival between 2004 and 2025 with only short gaps — 17 editions in two decades. Carries the Mersaoui-style lineage his father shaped with M'allem Sam from the 1960s onward.
